オリンピックのメダリストで世界的に有名なフィギュアスケーターのマイア＆アレックス・シブタニは、アメリカで「シブシブス」として知られています。サン・ヌードルおよびキングス・ハワイアンと協力し、シブシブスの著書「Amazing」200冊をハワイの公立小学校に寄贈しました。この本は世界的なアスリートでありかつ、ストーリーテラーでもある彼らが、世界に永久的な足跡を残した数多くのアジア系アメリカ人や太平洋諸島出身者の目覚ましい功績を紹介する絵本であり話題を呼んでいます。
Sun Noodle North AmericaのPresident、Kenshiro UkiとKing’s Hawaiian新規事業ディレクターのCyVan Yamamotoは「ハワイの公立学校の卒業生として、私たちを教えてくれた教師へ恩返しができることに感謝しています。また子供たちが彼らの文化的遺産を学び、大きな夢を持ち、その夢を追い求めたり、希望を持てることを願っています。」と伝えました。

今回の絵本の寄贈をきっかけにして、シブタニ兄妹は8月16日、ココヘッド小学校とワイアウ小学校を訪問し、本の中に登場する偉大な功績を残したアジア人や太平洋諸島出身者のストーリーを読み、生徒と交流しました。

HONOLULU – Olympic Medalists and world-renowned figure skaters Maia and Alex Shibutani, known as the ShibSibs, united with Sun Noodle and King’s Hawaiian to donate 200 copies of the ShibSibs book “Amazing: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Who Inspire Us All” to elementary schools in Hawai’i. The esteemed athletes and storytellers are making waves with an illustrated book that showcases the remarkable achievements of numerous Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders whose contributions have left a permanent mark on the world.
“As proud graduates of Hawai‘i’s esteemed public school system, we are grateful to be able to give back to the educators that taught us so well. We hope to ignite a sense of pride with our keiki to embrace their cultural heritage, encouraging them to dream big and pursue their aspirations.” shared Kenshiro Uki, President of Sun Noodle North America, and CyVan Yamamoto, Director of Strategy & New Ventures at King’s Hawaiian.
